Government Lal Shyam Shah College was established on December 1, 1989, in a tribally populated remote area in Manpur to provide higher education to the tribal population. The college is affiliated with Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, Durg (C.G.). It received recognition under UGC 2(F) on 01.09.1998 and UGC 12(B) on 01.09.1998. The college is named in honor of the local king of Korchha state (presently spread over the Manpur-Mohala area). Located in Manpur Village, which is part of the newly formed Mohla-Manpur-A.Chowki district, the college serves the higher education needs of a large tribal population settled in nearby forest areas spanning 600 square kilometers. The college campus covers 16.07 acres (6.43 hectares) and includes its own building and other facilities for students.
